In the spirit of trying to consume less meat (especially in these particular times), I got the children to agree to try tofu. So I pressed some tofu, cut it into chunks, put it in a mixture of buttermilk, soy sauce and worcestershire sauce for a few hours, rolled it in seasoned flour and shallow fried it. Then served it with rice, homemade sweet and sour sauce, and some broccoli and pineapple. Outcome: Ari scarfed six or seven pieces and declared it "like a tasty fried savory marshmallow". Owain tried two bites and declared it "too weird".

Maybe a firmer tofu? or tempeh? *sigh*
