We're a little early for National Hedgehog Day, but this is what the kids and I did today. 🙂 🦔🦔🦔

Cream puffs filled with vanilla pastry cream, milk and dark chocolate on top.

The last thing Ari and I did in public before the lockdown was to go to the symphony together. The Columbus Symphony is streaming some of its concerts this winter, so we dressed up to sit in front of the big computer and enjoy. 🙂

It was National Squirrel Appreciation Day yesterday, so we made celebratory pecan shortbread.

The original plan was to cut out squirrel shapes, but I forgot how crumbly it gets. So then I hit on the idea of little chocolate squirrels instead and I think they look real nice. I piped them onto parchment and then put them onto warm cookies so they would stick. Well, I should say "we"; Ari helped me pipe squirrels.

This weekend's project: pumpkin bread from a recipe I got from one of my high school friend's stepmom. He brought in a bunch to share when I was like, 17, and it was real good and I asked for the recipe. I have had the little printed out card ever since.

It was still real good, by the way.

This is the cake Owain wanted for his birthday this year- red velvet, raspberry filling, cream cheese frosting.

He's having an Among Us birthday party (basically just all his friends on Zoom playing Among Us for a few hours)
